6 Biggest Mistakes You’re Making When You Wash Your Face

Washing face has a process & do’s dont’s…Surprising right? You face is the first thing your world sees and recognizes you with. Choice is yours whether you want them to remember a dry, rough, patchy & wrinkled face or do you want them to remember a bright, clean, soft, supple, smooth & glowy face!

Washing is your face is one of the regular & taken for granted step we repeat everyday. It is ok to repeat but don’t repeat the mistakes which will make you look like a grumpy old wrinkled face woman…face_splash_water_

1. Overdoing It

Too much washing can age your skin as it robs off the required oils which creates elasticity & smoothness on you skin.  Do it no more than twice daily, though an extra wash pre- or post-workout is okay. Don’t let sweat be the reason acne & pimples. Balance is important!

2. Using a Harsh Cleanser

Consider swapping out soap(even the glycerin soap)  — which can strip your skin of its natural oils and cause irritation — for a non-soap cleanser, particularly if you have sensitive skin. Also, look for cleansers with calming ingredients, like green tea, that will soothe sensitive skin. And if you have oily, acne-prone skin, use a face wash with salicylic acid. Try Himalaya Neem Facewash or even the foam is quite good!

3. Either Over-Exfoliating or Not Exfoliating At Allexfoliation-face-scrub

Exfoliation is the key!!Using an exfoliator can enhance the texture and tone of your skin. “As we get older, our own enzymes that normally exfoliate our skin are no longer as effective so complexions can look rough and dull. It is recommended to exfoliate at night, since that’s when skin is in “renewal mode,” generating new skin cells. But keep in mind that exfoliating more than twice a week can do sufficient harm and will also make it rough & dry!

4. Not Washing off your Makeup Before Bed

I bet you feel like doing this everytime, right? Yes, it’s tempting to fall asleep with your makeup on — who hasn’t done it? But it can ruin your complexion for weeks, since makeup clogs your pores and prevents sebum, the lubricant in our skin that moisturizes skin and removes dead skin cells, from doing its job. And don’t forget to take off your eye makeup, too — leaving it on could cause infection or irritation and brings in ageing around 10 times faster.

Saviour Tip: Keep almond or coconut oil on bedside before leaving for that party and wipe off the moment you land. Another thing I do is to keep make-up remover wipes in my bag…on my way back I clean my make up and reach home for just basic final wipe to take off all my make-up!

5. Rinsing with Hot Water

This is especially important in the winter, when we are more dry-skin prone. Since hot water can dry out your skin, try to wash your face at the sink, rather than in the shower, so you can use lukewarm or cold water. Cold water in winter morning can bring the glow on your face!!Splash it baby, say goodbye to sleepy eyes and say Hello to sparkling glow on your face! I love winters 🙂

6. Overusing Facial Wipesfacial wipes

Today you have wipes for everything. Different types of Facial wipes are falling off the shelves. While it is convenient for removing makeup or doing a quick cleanse when you’re in a hurry or at the gym, but don’t use them in place of your regular cleanser. To thoroughly clean your pores, always follow up with a cleanser and/or scrub when you get home.

Remember these are just a few steps to healthy & glowing skin. You face & your skin is the indicator of who you are, what you eat and how you live, so let the amalgamation of good habits show on your skin!
